Freedom to Pharmaceutical Fascism

Another home run piece by Toby Rogers as he chronicles: “How the US Descended into Pharma Fascism. In 7 Steps”. Last week my wife attended a school board event at a local hotel meeting room which celebrated a program her company had volunteered to participate in. The program has the students come in to her company where she talks to them about creativity, marketing, building a business. The students are encouraged and directed in developing their own business projects. It is a really brilliant program and she felt an obligation to donate time which she really did not have, in

A Christmas Story: 2020

Ran out the door of the studio last night as all of our staff was celebrating, and the last of the Christmas clientele were departing. There was a young man standing on the steps outside trying to read all the signage we have up, which in spite of 4 pages of copy, pretty much says “We cannot and will not make you do anything, but our lovely Govt has other plans. Welcome to our studio”. I looked at him and asked if I could help him. Him: “I was just wondering if it was alright if I could come in?”

Wisdom: COVID-19 Reality Series

It has been awhile since I have posted an entry here. Like many of us, I too have been in hard battles. We all fight for our families and our brothers in this Panic-demic. I won’t dwell on the fight today. The following was something I put into one of the approximate dozen groups I contribute to globally, as we wade into what the future holds for us. When I was studying in Bible College (I took courses at RHEMA and LESEA), one of my courses was being taught by a former Baptist minister turned evangelist, a guy named Norville

Aloha A’ina: COVID-19 Reality Scenarios

I recognized one of the projects I helped advised on in this film linked below. Dustin Barca in that story, underscores one of the primary issues which I believe is foundational in what may be, a slowly increasing morbidity rate and number, for flu type infectious disease. That of food security. With the systemic usage of antibiotics in the livestock industry, coupled with pesticide-glyphosate enhanced agriculture production, we have systemized a health challenge. The following explanation is simplified, but what has occurred, is that the presence of antibiotics in food has caused an increase in resistance to those anti-life

The Thomas Fire

Sometime around Nov 28th I began seeing forecast estimates of a high velocity wind event for Central and So Cal. Taking a cursory look at the Unified Forecast Analysis did not particularly indicate that this would occur. That telltale high pressure which would first be seen just above Washington or over E Oregon was not on the weather map. I recall thinking: “that’s odd”. But I had been watching an old familiar pattern develop over the Western US, that of a ridge of high pressure. I knew that this meant wind and fire risk. We have massive pepper trees behind

Agung Evacuation Update from East Bali Poverty Project

The following is a letter we received from East Bali Poverty Project today. David Booth and his team at EBPP are playing a large role in alleviating the suffering and complexities created by the pending eruption of Mt Agung in East Bali. This is something we all jumped on early and as you can read below your donations and participation in the Cause Sale at Betty Belts helped raise a significant amount of money which is being put to fantastic use as Bali does it’s best to not suffer the large scale loss of life it did during the last

What Matters

It was five years ago today when Donna von Hoesslin and I, along with an incredible throng of our friends, met at Refugio beach on the Gaviota Coast. People came from all over. Our purpose had been clear from the start, to stand with our friends and combine lives and families under the presence of God, in the place where I grew up, and became a child of the sea. Pretty simple, now that I look back on it. Tom and Anne Stone along with their son Kawika and brother Pake Ah Mow came over from Oahu, to

Authentic Activism

The text a few lines below is from a conversation in one of the groups I am in, which is populated by some highly educated people who I have seen to possess fairly valiant hearts. Each wants to contribute to making our planet healthier, and Humanity happier. Our conversations frequently examine activism. This most recent one had me thinking about all the different voices in the world using Causes to drive Companies, rather than Companies to drive change within Culture. Healthy change will always come down to an embrace of Authenticity and Honesty. Here is my response in our conversation

Art and the Peaceful Warrior

This week I wound up shooting a motion picture project for my son’s martial arts company gym Puu Muay Thai here in Ventura. My wife Donna and I, also had a visit from our close friend, internationally acclaimed fine artist Edem Elesh and his 15 year old son Griffen, who I had not seen in over a decade when he was a teensy little guy playing with Donna’s hair as we visited Edem in his Hollywood digs. Simultaneously, my colleague and friend Robb Havassy, let the world know that Surf Story Vol 2 was headed to print after nearly 6

The Significance of Santa Claus(e)

My Christmas morning began as they all seem to have, today. Being beckoned from sleep, I pulled on sweat pants and sweater and wandered out into the dark at 4 am on what in California was a clear, cold morning. The cold earth against feet which only a few moments ago had been under the covers, sharpened my senses, and bending back I looked up to see the matrix of lights strung out within the dome of a multi hued, dark firmament. I then let it all flow through me from ground to sky and back. And I thank God
