Freedom's Fall

I cannot help at be shocked at the discussions I read, as we near Election day here in the US. The disconnect is absolutely incredible in the ranks of those involved in the marketing of a President. But what goes on is fairly predictable none the less. WE did not get to this place overnight. Remember that word as you read down: “we”.

I distinctly remember the election of Barack Hussein Obama. I have clear memory of my reasoning, as well as a hope in what he purported to be, and in turn, I had been cautiously enthusiastic about the return of the Oligarchy in this new Administration.

The campaign assured me, and indeed all of us, that they would “do the right thing” which is pretty much the foundational tenet of the Democratic Political platform, as well as a foundational Philosophy within the structure of the Electoral process, contained in the US Constitution.

I recall wondering how it was, that after the damages and crime of the Bush Administration, we had a man who was a Constitutional Attorney to champion the restoration of our Democratic Republic? Of course I would “vote for hope”.

However in the back of my mind was the Pragmatist. His was that of the CEO, the Leader, who had experienced  coaching by Civil servants on crime and prevention in Corporate structure. That guy whispered this. “What if you are wrong? What if this man has a pathological problem, in a similar vein to the Con men which you have seen endeavor to ply their trades in some of the companies you have run? What then?”

Well, as it turns out, Mr Obama betrayed his oath of office and did so in an increasingly bold and brazen fashion, as his term unfolded. He reinforced and built upon the degradation of Civil Rights guaranteed under Federal Law, which was begun under the Bush Administration.  He did so with the assistance and acknowledgement of Congress. The Chief Executive wedding his purpose with that of the Legislative branch, in a locking down, and repression, of the American people.

In the meantime, the Globalists which preside over many of the worlds largest Economic entities watched the events unfold and waited, hedging their bets, waiting to see if the world’s largest imperialistic power could be undermined, and brought under global economic control.

Below is a link which tutors on a malady called Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  A local businessman had pointed out the existence of this malady, which he stated was prevalent in many holders of Political office. Indeed we had experienced it in stark illustration within our own City Government, with the rise and fall of a seriously defective City Manager.…

We likely have that in our Presidential Officeholder.

This is going to change. But people must determine what complicity really means to them, in their choices. Because ignoring or failing to examine, is a pointed decision, and makes one a partner in this regime. That is despicable.

You can choose evil. That is what this is really about.

The death of Chris Stevens and our people at Benghazi was evil. Our Admin had been possibly watching, in real time. It is only one example. Many exist.

I have said repeatedly that our Intelligence is complete regarding US bases of operation. It will continue to be. We are good at what we do, waging the processes developed by our Military Industrial Complex.
None of this is about Red or Blue. Our system of checks and balances has been severely compromised.

Own your mind. Choose wisely. Learn vigilance. Reject division.

Because when it all fails, what the American people need to recognize, is that they will still be planted with their fellows, on US soil.

Here is a brief summation of our existent process, which we can change by removal of this President, as a first step. But that is only a small step. The Globalists have hedged their bets in Congress and within the context of this Presidential election. No reason exists yet for them to alter the plan.

From where I stand the only thing which matters today, is pushing to restore the shattered legal foundation of our Constitution which began to accelerate post 9-11 and grew in the depth of it’s destruction under the Administration of Barack Obama. Elect that? We should be impeaching it, just as we should have with the prior Administration.

Without an accurate and valid foundation, no solid legal structure exists for the maintenance of a traditional Democratic Republic system of Govt. here.  So unless we hold our Govt to account, all the other “stuff” the public is being fed, is just so much white noise.

I hope that in the process of all this theater, the American people as a body realize that their Politicians are not the Govt, and certainly not their Country. The heart has been severed from the body. This place needs a surgeon, not another clown. Our freedoms are not being guarded by the current system. They are intentionally being stripped and the ones who seek to preserve liberty, are being slaughtered in every manner imaginable.

That should never be an acceptable choice for any human being.

What separates the US from many other nations that have existed, is a history which has repeatedly illustrated that freedoms and liberties can never perpetually exist under rule of mortal men, as they are endowed by our Creator. What is right, wrong, and moral comes from the teachings of God. Not from sinful creatures that gain Govt power and force others to accept their twisted perversions of rule. Liberty is a Godly principle.

I live in a State that perhaps has done more in recent years to curtail individual choice and liberty, than any of the places to which I travel, here in the US and abroad. There is an implied benefit to that loss of liberty. But I have my doubts that the cost-expense involved is prudent, necessary, or of sufficient benefit, that it could be deemed equitable, should a cost to benefit assessment be made.

That is one of the real and primary issues which will keep California in the economic and environmental gutter. We not only exalt our sacred cows here, but we feed and water them at the expense of the blood sweat and tears of our State’s citizens-families.

Recently a woman  named Carla Bonney, took exception to the City of Ventura  forcing paid parking on the Community for the third time in that Old City’s history, without benefit of a vote by the populace. Prop 218 states this. People get to vote on fees- taxes being imposed. That is the law.

Carla took time away from work and family, to  acquire over 10,000 signatures, in order to place the existence of the metered parking on the ballot. I saw her abused for this by many people in City Governance and their supporters.

In fact, one of the more typical reactions recently penned into a local newspaper as part of an expression of outrage against her, spoke of how we all should be willing to pay our fair share, and that includes paying for use of our streets and beaches. “Everyone should pay.”

(Sounds quite reasonable, until you peel back the veneer of false equitability)

The problem with this reasoning, is that those people who railed against Carla, never took the time to examine both the how and why of her actions. They were not able to. Those same people cannot see nor realize that all of us are being sold down river.

The reason for that, is because Californians long ago lost sight of the meaning of Independence and Liberty. We abdicated that, to a State Govt which ran amok with the trust we invested in them, and turned around to destroy the very people who by vote and tax, empowered them. That choice resulted in fiscal and political benefit for certain elected officials and frequently, not for many others.

Carla simply had said: no, we have the right to choose. Those others who rail against her publicly and privately?  They are not much different than the repressive British Govt which the Colonists fled England to gain respite from. Ultimately, the states collectively determined that the British monarchy, by acts of tyranny, could no longer legitimately claim their allegiance (1).

I cringe at seeing people agree to pay fees for things which were already bought and paid for with Property and State income taxes, as well as District Sales Taxes. I mean REALLY? You think it is  a good idea to implement and perpetuate a fee for parking, why? A fee for using a National resource like the beach-ocean, why? So a City Manager can receive a pay compensation package in excess of 200k per year? Really? You would sell out your liberty and that of your children and grandchildren, and forever alter the feel and appearance of your town for that? The livelihood of bureaucrats?

As citizens, we need to implement a cost to benefit look at EVERYTHING in order to exist in California,whether we are Independent Small business owners, or simply heavily taxed heads of households, working multiple jobs to stay afloat in this awful economy. Should our Cities not be held accountable to employ  the same self examination as the people who they were appointed, elected, or hired to serve?

I have long felt that fewer today “get” the concept of service, who are used to being paid a regular and generous salary applied by virtue of office. That is because the nature of their job description creates a disconnect from the reality of those they Govern. So the decision making process they utilize, averts any motivation to examine cost to benefit. This only serves to exacerbate the suffering of the community they ought to be serving, by systematic removal of unencumbered access to resources traditionally included by the City, State, Federal Govt, and yes, in turn, founding fathers of the Republic which is a right, by virtue of your Citizenship.

This is a great crime.

So make this “Liberty Day” for your Community, as we celebrate our Nation’s Independence. Pasted below at the end of this blog, is our Declaration of Independence. Think about what those words mean. Everyone should cherish this. It is the lifeline to restoration and preservation of the Republic, and direction of the future safety and health of successive generations in our towns.

Thank you Carla, for voting to restore my liberty in this one small area, with your service.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. Like it or not, we all are linked to our past. Our lives when viewed, in the perspective of our ancestors and those who come after us, our successors, will always reflect our willingness to engage in behavior which in the broader scope of time, will reflect our individual decisions.

There really is no such thing as a nation, just as there really is no such thing as a corporation. It always boils down to an individual’s choice. That is why our Constitution and Bill of Rights focus on the individual in such minute detail.

In a world of sameness, never forget that you matter, or ever think that your choice will affect no one but you, because that is the lie that kills everything.

So on this Memorial Day we call to mind the people who made choices that helped to form the world in which we live.  If you do  not like the way things are today, maybe consider how you would like it to be? Look to the past and make choices rooted in those old lessons, based on what you would like the world to be, in a future that tirelessly rushes up to greet you.

Yesterday I got to stand stage side with my son Josh, as the Shoemaker Brothers performed here in Ventura at Jonathan’s, a local restaurant and music nightspot. I heard Sam sing a piece done as  a spinoff of America The Beautiful. They saved it for the end of the last set, which took place as part of a birthday party celebration for local businessman JR Ford.

The song was so powerful, that it cut through the revelry, and one by one, I could see people sit up and take notice. The song really is a call to arms and choice, and one of the more powerful messages that I have ever heard.

Earlier in the week Sam and I had engaged in a really great conversation about how our personal experiences and past are the best source for our creations. Standing in the soft fading light, which fell through a skylight above the band, on a Memorial Day weekend, I realized just how much we need to be reminded, that America is you, and I, and this place needs us.

Everyone Loves a Parade

The Boss says it best in this song. Old, yet still vital, for the memories it evokes and the poignant reminder it leaves us with.

Ventura, or Ventucky as many of us fondly refer to this town, was considered a way station between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara for years. It has come into it’s own in recent times.

It’s strong native American Indian, Mission, Agricultural and Oil  historical foundation makes for a unique and diverse cultural cross section. A beautiful example of cultural diversity emerges today and promotes tolerance on many levels, in spite of the stress the little city is under in our current economic plunge.

If I had to pick any one thing as my little home town’s strong suite, I would choose it’s cultural diversity. There are a lot of voices in Ventura. On the day of the Ventura County Fair Parade, many of them show up. Lots of smiling faces, flags, and a unique sampling of the mindset that is Ventura California, unfolds in a pulsating rythm of humanity and color and marching music, down Main St.

Got to love a small town. Nothing gets by anybody for very long. That can be a good thing, because when a city engages transparently, accountability hangs it’s hat. With accountability, a city becomes a community. Ventura winds up with better infrastructure eventually, as a result of communal values: better PD, FD, Politicians, and City Hall. The community becomes, by virtue of the Democratic process, a best case example of the tenets of the US Constitution.

Annie and Jim Aspell, the Betty Bus’s new owners, took Donna Von Hoesslin of Betty B and Shawn Alladio of K38 along with them Saturday in a grand celebration for our community.  As I ran the parade line several times, going against the flow whenever possible, I found myself grinning  like a fool at what I saw. It really made me happy. Diversity, tolerance, simple happiness and the best cross section of what Ventura California is, rolling down Main St: brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, fathers, mothers, grandparents, daughters, sons, neighbors.

But really, it could be anywhere, USA. And it should be. My friend Kathleen Fitzgerald coined the phrase The Real California, for Ventura. To me it is bigger than that, but only because of the people who call it their home.

As a group of us leave here for Indonesia today, we go  as ambassadors from a place that many believe does not really exist: land of the free, home of the brave. We go walking and speaking softly, and proudly, with open arms. I hate the term Ugly American. America should never be ugly. It all starts in your home town. I love mine, and will miss it while I am away.
